This showed up on my email:
................I've seen it all. Many customer bringing rods to me
that were suddenly "one piece" rods that they could not get apart.
The 4 hand/2 people method is sometimes a last resort, but it works!! Most of the time,
I've also done it behind the knees.
Once, I even ended up with the sharp end of a snake guide stuck in the webbing
of a hand.........OUCH!!
**** Then there were experiments using ice, light heat, pieces of old inner tube ...............you would not believe.
During the life of the Little Lehigh Fly Shop I was often expected to fix this. My shop was in a Springhouse. I found if I held the ferrule under the cold outlet of the spring, the behind the knees method never failed.
